Re: Rod for Weightless soft plastics
I used the Savage Gear Drop Shot XLNT all last year mainly for bass.
Biggest bass was around six so plenty of backbone. The rod has a very light responsive tip and the power builds quickly as you use the rest of the blank.
Its rated 7-25, but its very overrated 15 down to nothing would be more accurate. The tip is really 'flicky' and will give good load with small weights. I
personally like the length for 'guiding' soft plastics around feature and flow but shorter rods are more in vogue so whatever.

Absolute Fishing would have a selection of rods to do what you want including S/Gear Id be inclined to go get some experienced advice.

Nice rods, very light, good fittings. Used it a lot last year. Rated 7-23 but probably best around 10-15g. Has a fast action yet a nice tip so doubled well as a sea trout rod. Excellent for the money.

Okuma 7ft 5/15g. increadable rod, used it from a kayak for a year and was so impressed i took it out on a wreck trip on what i thought would be a destruction test. It handled hard hitting fish and still came home.€44.

Re: Rod for Weightless soft plastics
You could choose any of a blast of rods at this stage....
Most of the 5-25s will do the needful. The Surecatch Salty 7' fits the bill and maybe the HTO lure game rods would too the SC is €40...
A specific rod is grand but do you need a rod that will cover all your angles if fishing from the shore?
When fishing weightless I think that the braid and reel have a bearing as much as length and type of rod.
What rod are you using most at present?

Re: Rod for Weightless soft plastics
Thanks for all the responses lads, plenty of food for thought there.
Jim, i am using the exellent Shimano Vengance 10 to 50g but am wondering if it might be a tiny bit heavy for the lighter weightless soft plastics.
I will be chatting to Cian in Absolute Fishing later about it, but i wanted other opinions first. Thanks for your help lads. Much appreciated.
