Episode III... a slow start then BOOM

#1 Post by donal domeney »

People: John Warner and me self

Duration: Just over 4 hours

Tide: 1 hour up and 3 down

Weather: sweet

Bait: lug caught nearly all the fish

Rigs: the same rigs now for the last 3 outings

Results: Slow start but plenty of doublers after 2 hours in.

A Late Report from the 30.01.2014
Well they say you can never get enough of a good thing so we headed back for Episode III this time fishing over high water and few hours of the drop.

Not as hectic a start as before with only small tips on the rod in the first 1 or 2 casts I even got a chance to get the second rod in the water before I landed a fish  . With an hour and a half gone I had only a coalie and 2 flounder caught and John on a shore rockling and a flounder.

The headlines were not looking good “Episode III, The Fish Strike Back and do a Runner”.

About an hour into the drop the place suddenly wore up and the fish started to come thick and fast :D :D :D with most of my catches been doublers. double flounder; flounder/shore rockling; single shore rockling; coalie/shore rockling; flounder/shore rockling; dogfish/shore rockling; coalie/shore rockling and a single shore rockling and flounder.
Me self 18 fish 7 flounder 4 coalies 6 shore rockling and a doggie :D :D

John in the meantime was keeping himself busy and ended with 12 fish a new PD   for a shore session in 2014; 5 flounder, 4 shore rockling, 2 coalies and a turbot. The turbot was nothing to post home about but the word postage stamp sums up its size.

The coalies and flounder were a good size fish but not as large as the fish caught in Episode II. Still, a fine night to get out and a few aches and pains to bring home.

Less of the pic's this time I thing we all know what flounder, shore rockling and coalies look like now. 8) 8)
