People: me fein
Duration: 19.00-23.00
Tide: 18.00 high
Weather: windy
Bait: crab, rag, refrozen
Rigs: 3 hook flappers
Results: 4 rockling, 1 whiting
Report: with no fishing down in mayo last weekend i was mad to get out
it was lovely and calm monday but was too busy - so last night had to do
could see on accuweather the wind was to pick up
was thinking one of the beaches to the south, but on the way down the car wobbled a few times and that was the end of that
figured i would go back into the harbour
things were relatively calm with the wind at my back, the tide not pushing hard
first cast a rockling and no weed
cast again and set up the second rod
another rockling
then it was quiet for a while - looked over the other side and the swell and the breakers were amazing - looked real fishy - and windy - so stayed where i was
another hour passed - another rockling and another dropped - but it was slow
decided to go over to the suds - first cast rockling and whiting
not what i was hoping for but continued on
got the 2nd rod out - then the first had piles of mussel clumped onto it
then this happend the 2nd rod
then lost a rig
then went to one rod to mind it
but this mussel stuff was killer - so packed up
noticed all the trawlers out in the harbour so must be kicking up all the mussel beds???
still was great to be out in the wind - hate to think what the open beaches would have been like!!!
