Report:
So i got down to Wexford over the weekend to target flounder, a trip that i had been planning and looking forward to for some time. met up with Brian (Corbyeire) on Friday evening and we fished from a pier - where we caught plenty.
i had some very decent flounder on the rag, biggest 32cm (my PB), and we both managed a few other species: flounder, dab, codling, small coley, whiting, and a fresh water eel. I must say that the flat fish were top quality, much bigger on average than what i am used to on the north coast. Wexford really does offer fantastic flounder fishing

but it was even larger flounder that we were targeting so the plan was to head to South Wexford the following day
met up with Brian again the following morning and at our mark the tide was approaching low water. i had a go with the fly to no avail (i could see another guy trying trotting with small plastics also, but he got nothing with them) and then later switched to using mainly rag. Brian was persisting with the fresh peeler and soon enough was into a very decent flounder. And soon after that again Brian had a real cracker, a flounder at exactly 40cm and weighting 1lb 12oz, it was the biggest flounder i had ever seen

things slowed down for the next while so we moved location. again Brian started catching fish..

nevertheless, it was just great to see some fine flounder, to get a feel for the place, and just be out and at it
i'll be back, for sure
a big thanks to Corbyeire for showing up and providing some much appreciated company/guidance. great stuff

a few pics from the trip below
cheers

ps. i wont go into the story of the guy who tried to start a row with me in the pub that evening... the woman who never showed up at my b&b!... and the fact that we were meant to fish again on Sunday but couldnt because...... my feckin CAR BROKE DOWN
