waterford 9/11

#1 Post by tight lines »

People:myself and errol

Duration:4.30pm -12am

Tide:hw 10.10 pm

Weather:flat calm but wet

Bait:fresh and frozen crab

Rigs:pennel pullys

Results: cod,flounder,whiting,eels

Report:things had not gone to plan during the week trying to get crab after geting up at 5 am and 6 am wens & thurs i had a total of 11 fresh crab for myself but i had the back up of a stock of frozen so it was not ideal but we headed to a well knowen waterford mark on arrival there was 1 local lad fishing but he had no joy yet after a quick chat i was a bit more hopeful with him telling me the weather had being good most of the week and not much rain so not much fresh water in the river got rod set up and cast out and both our first casts we landed a flounder each soon after i was rolling a smoke when i seen a good knock on one of my rods so i droped the smoke and struck into my first half desent codling of the winter at just under 3 lb the fishing was steady enough after that with small codling and flounder keeping us interested then errol had 2 eels in 2 cast witch lucky enough wear hooked nicely so no messed up rigs i then got a small tap followed by a strong take and slack line reeled in the slack and lifted into the fish this fish felt better alot better running left and the right after a good battle i got it close to the bank and it took 1 more good run left stright over errols lines resulting a bit of a mess and then my heart drop as i felt the hook pop and no weight on the line anymore but that life i will get it next time we finshed off with some more flounder small codling eels and a single whiting the first i have got from this mark
