Greystones Pier 03/11/13

#1 Post by Kgarr »

People:CiaranG and myself

Duration:17-21.00

Tide: LT @ 16.30

Weather: time for the gloves lads

Bait: Large isome worm ,pink & brown, assorted gubs

Rigs: Rovex UL 1-4grams, 4lb mono

Results: Pollack mid 35cm ~

first LRF session and I was really looking forward too it. I was greeted at the pier at an all too familiar sight, a group of lads skulling cans with a bag of undersized fish thrown under their feet, 15 foot surf rods and they were striking every tap as if they were about to land a 80lb tarpon. weekend pier fishing  , comes with the territory I suppose, still quite sad to see. anyway...
Had an absolute brilliant session with CiaranG, First hour down saw plenty of action on the pink isomes, dusk was creeping in when CiaranG got absolutely smashed by a lovely Pollack, he had to be over 35cm, will bring the measure next time. These fish give really kick the sh1te out of you when fishing this light!! heart attack stuff!!! eventually he got him to the surface and gingerly lifted him out of the blue. CiaranG was like a cat that got the cream, really lovin this LRF.

Shortly after this was repeated with myself, same pink isome worm Pollack a little smaller, still in the mid thirties, felt like a monster on the Rovex UL.
went quite after this, the lads bait fishing landed a few lovely big rockling, and a couple of similar size Pollack. We had a couple of violent attacks but no more hook ups. will def hit the pier again soon with the LRF gear, but probably better to be there mid week or very early.

LRF fishing is excellent, only starting out myself, it's been a bit too windy for a good session.

Great session well done glad to see you caught a few fish:) the violent attacks on your lures could have been rockling as any time I'm abut fishing and catch one there is always a sharp rattle on the tip of the rod:)
