south coast wexford 29+31 oct 13

People: 1 gluton for punishment

Duration: 3hrs and 3hrs

Tide: dropping

Weather: fresh sw breeze, no rain

Bait: frozen peeler, lug, mac, sandeel

Rigs:3 hook flapper pulley

Results: 1 17cm codling

Report: as most of my success comes from the mighty flounder its a wonder i never tried lacken before
was put off last year with the talk of lads trying to break into cars etc.
didnt hear anything of late so thought id try it out

i know to fish it on the drop - so was probably there in good time an hour before dusk
went to the spot i was told and fished away

different crab size baits and hook sizes

needless to say i blanked - i wasnt plagued by weed or crabs - nothing touched the bait
looks a fishy spot - well sheltered from SW - ill be back

then headed down to grange last night - took a punt on this one - it looked like mixed ground - turned out it was
would have like to hit on the top or an hour of the rise - the surf looked great

it began to strip out fast revealing gulleys and rock outcrops and weed - very fishy territory
but nothing was biting - kept getting the distance gear back so it must have been clean enough where i was going
after about 2hrs of dropping the surf died out a bit

maybe this was deeper water - but i was starting to snag here and there - lost 2 rigs - a few snoods
then pulled one it with a tiddler of a codling on
first since the last run
so they must be making their was up from cork

more ground covered - probably have a heart attack if i got a 3lb schoolie at this stage
