specimen ray youghal beach 29/10/13

Duration:21.00 till 02.00

Tide:hw 01.15

Weather:cold calm clear

Bait:crab

Rigs:pulleys and flaps

Results:1 cod 2.5lb 1 ray 11.8lb and dogs




Report:
couple lads cod fishing when I got to the spot I wanted to fish so had a quick chat with them while I was standing there they landed a cod of about 3lb so off I went knowing there was fish where I wanted to fish :twisted: drove down to back of carpets nice few lads fishing away had a quick chat with joe who landed a cod of about the same size as the one I saw up the river looking at the clear sky and very slight winds and fellas catching cod everywhere I wanted to fish I made the decision to leave the harbour to the cod anglers and try the beach for a ray :?: I did have second thoughts when I got to the beach what kind of clown turns away from fish to go fishing :lol: I set up on the empty beach thinking to myself even if I blank at least I have the beach to myself I can just fish away and not be bothered by anyone :lol: first few casts produced a few dogs then I hit into a cod 2.5lb another few dogs brought me up to high water was thinking of calling it a night when I caught a nice ray tipping the scales at just under 12lb :D had another few dogs before eventualy packing up

cracking painted ray john and the cod isnt bad either great fishing very well done 8)

Nice 1 John, the rays are showing up good lately. Good sign with the cod aswell, looks like we could have a good season for them this year, suppose it couldn't be any worse than last year!!
