youghal area 28/10/13

Duration:19.00 till 01.30

Tide:hw 00.15

Weather:cold clear light wind variable direction

Bait:crab

Rigs:mixed

Results:ray cod dogs eels




Report:
tried a west Waterford mark for a few ray but all that showed in the few hours was a plague of dogs and a tiny ray on the last cast must have been the smallest ray iv ever seen :lol: on the way home we chanced the harbour for a few casts plenty of eels feeding and making shite of good traces :twisted: we managed to catch 5 cod over 1.5lb biggest cod was 3.2 lb

Well done nice fishing. Wish we got cod this side . Even tho its a small ray still nice to get.

would cod not show on the atlantic side of Achill????

2012 species: Pollock, Mack, Coalfish, Gurnard, Bullhuss, Dogfish and Wrasse.
Would do anything for a bass!

Not often, only cod I've seen caught is the size of pin whiting. The north side of achill is only fish able on sertin winds and that's not often, not many deep water marks that are safe enough to fish.

whats the weed like down there john and has there being much rain dont want a wasted trip after my distaster with the weather in kerry last week

there has been a nice drop of rain alright but the river is in flood with two weeks and plenty of fish being caught there was no weed out the beach last night

is youghal beach worth giving a go during the day and do tides etc matter ?

its not realy that productive during the day iv seen fish caught on it during the day but not that great
