tried a west Waterford mark for a few ray but all that showed in the few hours was a plague of dogs and a tiny ray on the last cast must have been the smallest ray iv ever seen on the way home we chanced the harbour for a few casts plenty of eels feeding and making shite of good traces we managed to catch 5 cod over 1.5lb biggest cod was 3.2 lb

would cod not show on the atlantic side of Achill????
Not often, only cod I've seen caught is the size of pin whiting. The north side of achill is only fish able on sertin winds and that's not often, not many deep water marks that are safe enough to fish.

there has been a nice drop of rain alright but the river is in flood with two weeks and plenty of fish being caught there was no weed out the beach last night
