Greystones Pier, 25/10/13.

#1 Post by Sweetwrasse »

People:Myself and SeanK

Duration:17.00-20.30

Tide:HW at 16.30ish

Weather:Surprisingly nice!

Bait: Frozen mackeral, rag, handful of leftover crab.

Rigs: Flappers, size 4 hooks.

Results: Ballan Wrasse, Pouting, Pollock and Coalies.

Report:
Managed a quick but busy session on that now famous east coast mark, Greystones pier, on Friday. At first look it didn't appear promising with the water a deep chocolately colour after all the rain. But this was my first opportunity to fish in ages so I wasn't to be put-off. I was also confident that my collection of refrozen-refrozen skanky mack was sure to get a good scent in the water
Got a line in the water for about 17.00 and managed two small wrasse before the light went. The bites came regularly after dark with pollock and coalies to 29 cm and a pouting to 28 cm all on the near liquified mackeral. Tried a few crab baits (leftovers from smoothy season) in the rougher ground but they remained untouched. Plenty of smaller pollock and coalies in-between and plenty of stripped hooks too. Not a single whiting though and try as I might I couldn't get a rockling. The fishing dropped off around mid-tide so headed for home satisfied with a few relaxing hours fishing and the rain stayed away too which had looked very unlikely earlier in the day 8)
It ain't easy but it sure is simple!
