Report:With me stuck in the house on painting duty last weekend and Fishface having one of the best night's fishing in years on Sunday evening,,, I was determined to get out during the week to wet a line

. My chance came on Wednesday afternoon and I got to Greystones early to catch a few hours of daylight fishing in peace before Fishface arrived

. I set up on the Pier and got bites on my rag baits straight away as there were plenty of Whiting (of the Sub Species"Pin") about. I had a couple of doubles of them before getting a better bite on my second rod,,,,which turned out to be a silver eel of about 50cms. I unhooked him with the help of another Angler handy enough without him tangling up my rig and sliming up my teatowel

.
I cast over to the base of the far pier in the hopes of a late season wrasse and managed to pluck out 3 before it got dark

Eat your hearts out Al and Jordan
Neil arrived at around 6pm and guess what , he had another new rod and reel

He was soon pulling in pouting and whiting but I managed to hook into a nice pollock and after initially getting snagged , I gave him some slack and then caught him unawares and pulled him up out of the depths below. It would have been a right sickener to lose that fish, especially as I could see him shining in the water below.
As darkness fell, there was a real chill in the air and it was time for the winter suits to make an appearance,,,,,though I was a bit worried when I saw Fishface was wearing what looked like a knee length skirt under his coat,,,,,but everyone to his own I suppose
It was the bottom of the tide now and the bites were starting to dry up,,,though I did manage to get a nice flounder and then when I remarked on the absence of Shore Rockling,,,,, one made an appearance on cue
As per usual,,,I lost a few traces to the rough ground , but all things considered , I'd rather lose a few to catch a few

. Plenty of codling about, but sadly despite punching above their weight in the bites category,,,,they were all tiny

. The fishing died off around 10 pm and we headed off. On a final note,,,,just another reminder to keep an eye on your vehicle,,,or better still ,,,park where you can see it as there are reports of a few a few Bogey's about
