Report:Had taken a trip last week to East Cork, sorry Donal I will never doubt you again
had a 'God help us ' codling and about 5 small coalies, so chanced my arm this week on the home front and was given a green card 
happy days, was thinking about the trip since about teusday and the little brain was working overtime as to marks and weather and tides and all things fishy. Then one big thing cropped up, Munster were playing at home, so after a long think fishing won the day and on went the thoughts of fishing West Clare was the target area with Bass in mind.Hit out of limerick early to get down to dig some fresh lug, at one stage the wind blowing through the trees seemed a bit stronger than I was expecting but on I ploughed. Got to my lug mark and what seemed like a harder dig than normal I managed to get enough for the session, was actually followed from each hole I dug to the next by a group of very sqwauky sea gulls
Had a look at a couple of marks and eventually settled on a favourite mark so got the waders on and the gear out of the van when my phone rang, an offer of a free ticket for the match
bloody typical, but I looked at my wee lug and set off down the beach. The tide was rising nicely as I was setting up. There was a stiff enough breeze as I started that was driving a nice surf in but the breeze died off after a while and so did the surf. I have for the last month started to cast the multi in the low position and thankfully another session went without a hiccup bar my own mistake of not releasing the reel before a cast and hearing that dreaded snap First couple of casts nothing was showing not even a nibble. After a while I got a little knock on one of the rods and up popped a wee turbot, no size about half a pound, next up was a small flounder, both fish fell to sandeel. Fished away for about another hour with no bites when suddenly one of the rods started to bounce in the stand, Lifted into it and could feel a fish on
was hoping for a silver lad, could tell it wasn't a monster but it was giving a good scrap coming in, was delighted when I landed a lovely sea trout, about a pound in weight, my first ever sea trout. The trout itself was covered in sealice and some other creature had tried to take a chunk out of the side of it, funny I actually thought that I spotted a seal around earlier. Fished on for about an hour of the dropping tide and packed up. Was delighted with the sea trout 
By the way, trout was returned alive and well
