Just read the story behind that monkfish in fenit,he is a great man and angler to have released that fish back and the fact that it was caught on mackeral feathers and the proof is in the photos, fairplay to him and not listening to the others beside him.

Give a man a fish and you feed him

thats fishing for ya...looking to bash a few macks and that bad boy shows up!
if the tables were turned and he was targeting monkfish,he'd be an ornament on the shore!
great story, fair play for the C&R...
sounds like if that dream shore catch fell to any other angler there that day, with the exception of a few,he'd have been supper that night.endangered or not...

Fair play to him, he should enter the catch into fish of the month in Irish Angler. He'd be a deserved winner.

I wonder what kind of odds you would get for catching an angel shark from the shore on mackerel feathers and on a pink rod  Great to see it being released too.

Some experience that would be totally unexpected and fair play to the lad for the C&R. Thought the fish only stayed in warmer waters or has the sea around our east coast raised in temp to let them come in shore? Any other reports of Monkfish being caught anywhere of the coast?
