Snapped rod today not happy

#1 Post by Deise boy »

Hi all
Hit the beach today for a spot of spinning was only beautiful down here in waterford

Off i go to garris new lures plugs etc weather unreal tides lovely .

Kids decided that they didnt want to go so i was on my own
Waders on
Rod in case
Bottle of water
Happy dazz

Off i go to garris tide was heading out so i decided to go straight over to far side of the beach and walk out onto rocks and spin away

Delighted with myself

Disaster struck on the second yes second cast.

Plug got caught up in some small weed on too of water i could see it an all said i give it a slight pull should do it

No luck had only 12 pound line on it so i said i be easy and just gave it a little side pull.

Rod just busted above the first connection as it was a 3 piece rod Image

Honestly almost cried excellent day and this crap happens

So i ring the shop where i got ti from and the owner says bring it in

Sorry was a shakes spear sigma 9ft 3ft min casting 10g max was 30g
I was inly using a 12 gr plug.

Owner says bring it in and i have a look

Drove to the shop owner walks up puts hand out and apologies says pick out a rod ANY ROD
Im thinking fair play within 2 seconds of him saying that.

I actually asked him for the same rod as i was happy with the weight feel and feedback from rod.

He said he would get me another in during week and then said still pick any rod to do you until it arrives.
He gave me a brand new rod of any choice until the new one arrives

So just shows you to use a local shop he was a gentleman about it and even as i arrived at shop he was selling a fly rod to a guy stopped during the sale said to the guy hang on this fellow needs to be sorted out.

I only know the guy a few weeks bought a small bit of tackle and stuff from him but he treated me like i was his best customer for years

He never asked even did i do something wrong
Fair play to him i was well impressed, can you imagine if you bought that rod online the trouble you would have in getting a replacement

So just here to say thanks to him even Though he knows nothing of this site or even that i am putting this topic up.

And i hope its ok to mention his shop here

Its shootin & fishin in waterford up in bally bricken

So thanks very much mate even though you will never see this but to let others know here that you wont see that kind of a person every day.

Fair play to him well well deserved
This post might not even make it here as people might think im giving him a plug but its far from it lads

Credit where credit is due in all fairness especially with the times were in these days

Thanks mate

Safe to say, not many would treat you as well as that guy.

One of the advantages of shopping locally too.

It makes a difference. The next time you get the feeling you want to part with a pile of cash in return for fishing gear you know where to go.
List 2010. fish

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

2013: even less fish.
