Leon is the man to ask Pookie!
I can't get into this webpage because of work restrictions, so I don't know if it's exactly what you need, but it looks like it might give you some answers.
Failing that, a light coarse float rod or feeder rod, 5 or 6lb line, preferably with a flourocarbon trace, a small stick float weighted down with the minimum of split shot necessary, and a size 8-10 hook will do the job. You should groundbait the swim before fishing to attract the mullet into your area. Mashed bread (maybe with some mashed mackeral or some pilchard oil) and some bran will do the job, and just spoon it into the sea, little and often. You can use plain old bread as the hookbait, or maybe a tiny piece of mackeral flesh.

mullet
Hi Pookie
You will need to be a bit more specific in relation to the marks you intend fishing, so people can give you better advice.
As a general rule light line is essential as they are devious suspicious buggers and small hooks - the only one I've taken recently was in Purteen on a 2 up 1 down rig set for flounder loaded wih lugworm!
If you give people an idea of where you are tackling them...

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...
2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks
