courtown or Donegal charter?

#1 Post by Hardiman »

HI guys, im in a bit of quandry as to where to pick to head out on a charter, the guys at Courtown are close and handy to drive to so more mates would be up for that but whats the fishing like lately does anyone know? ive read a few posts of people catching lots of tope but has anyone had other good catches recently while either out on a charter from there or on their own boat??
I know what to expect if i go to Donegal way up the norhtwest and that is appealing to the minority of us so i would appreciate any feedback on boats going out ouf courtown in the past few weeks.
Cheers.

Why not give Joe a ring in the shop to see how the fishing has been? Im sure there would be a good chance of tope, hounds and some ray etc.

You're in with a good shout of Tope at Courtown, smoothies are a certainty if you have some peeler and a good chance of Ray & Huss too. North Donegal would give you much more variety, good Tope, nice Ray & Flattie fishing, and some really nice wreck & reef fishing, as well as the chance of a Skate or blue & porbeagle sharks. Choice is yours!

Check out Michael McVeigh's catch report page http://www.rosguill.com/category/fishing-news/ which will give you a good idea of what's going on up Downings direction. It's one of the best websites I've seen from charter boats in this country. He always puts up really nice pictures.

Paul McGonagle & the Caitlín Marie. You'll have fun. And Danny Minnie's is just over the road for a decent bite of dinner too.
