Hello,
I'm a native of Connemara (near White Lady at entrance to Clifden Bay). I have had many good days fishing this peninsula (Errislannan) the traditional way as I was taught, ie. with a hand line, close in, with a stone as a sinker, fishing totally for gunner (wrasse). In the past these fish were salted and used for food in winter.
Anyway I now know there's a bit more variety available from the shore. I will be going up next week, and I'm hoping to sneak a few hours fishing, but at this time of year I'm really guessing at what to target (whiting, codling, Pollack, flatties??)
Can anyone give me an idea as to what I could reasonably hope to catch?
Some details are:
Ground: rough stoney mostly, sandy bottom available at White Lady
Depth: 2 to 5 fathom
Bait: Fresh Lug, frozen sandeel, frozen mackeral, Gulp sandworm(new)
Method: any advice?
Thanks in advance
Blackie

'Gulp' is yet another Amazing Ploy by Berkly... Claiming to 'Last 5 Times Longer', 'Be 5 Times Smellier', and 'Be 5 Times Realler' than Real bait... The only Berkley Fake baits I would ever bother with are the Big Rag Imitations and Firetails.... The Rest, I usually find, Is a pile of c**p.
