Soft Plastic Jigheads

As I don't know much about boat fishing what would be the standard weight of the jig-head when fishing soft plastics on a boat.Went out Tuesday about a half mile out passed Roche's Point and ended up using a 85g perk.Only had one codling for the day the jig-heads i had where only 20g and not up to the job at all and the 85g perk was like lifting a bowl off the bottom on the light gear.I was thinking all i had to do was get out and i could do nothing but nail pollock Bigger fool me, not one
