Gironde estuary in July

#1 Post by kieran »

Howiyez from out west

Eventually found cheap flights on Ryanair (via Cork! ) so we're heading into La Rochelle on 3rd July for around 10 days. Staying further south outside Royan and just wondering if anyone has done any fishing in the area, in the sea (not those ponds), either off the shore or by charter. I know from past experience that they have a cob run up the Gironde and would love to try this but I also know that the locals take a very dim view of paddy or johnny foreigner joining in the fun. Any posts here or PMs welcome, especially if you know of someone living in the area that can offer any advice.

A bientot!

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

I think alain17 is from La Rochelle. I don't know him, but it might be worth getting in touch with him. According to http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... =8&t=43184 it isn't at home at the moment...
