Wicklow

#1 Post by Marble »

People:Me and Matt69

Duration:18:00-12:30

Tide:12:00

Weather:Windy, Clear and Sunny

Bait:Mack and Wrag

Rigs:short

Results:Matt 69 :1 Cod,1 Scorpion Me : 1 poor cod, 5 rockling 3 beard, 2 pollack

Report:I started out well poor cod and Pollack with the first two casts, we put out smaller rods as well with floats
with no results. It was dead until 3 hours before full tide getting the od fish but losing lines every second cast. Decided to go kamikaze into the rocks without leader as I was losing too much, first two casts 2 rockling about 15 cm, third cast thought it was stuck pulled felt the line going (Thank god it was only new line)and came loose but with a load of weight on could barely wind the reel got it to the edge of the pier wall and felt the line creaking, matt jumping up got the line just in time, hauled it up the wall to reveal a 37-39 cm rockling at least 2lb, go to take a picture and of course as everyone knows there has to be something wrong and on this occasion it was no batt on the phone  but not just my phone oh no both our phones, so back to the car it was to charge the phone after 10 mins still no batt, so when I get back the monster has lost about a pint of blood, then matt remembers he has a camera in the box but with very little batt but just enough to take these pictures, I put the rocking back alive. We were both on out last cast and matt brings in a cod about 46 cm. Good nite over all, glad to see the fish going back alive , its hard to kill a fish like that and deprive other anglers of catching it , even if to say I have caught a specimen fish. Rules really need to change on that IMO.
