First Bass of 2013

Tide: enough

Weather: Cold SE f3

Bait:lures

Report:
Headed off on my own today in search of a Bass before the Ban kicks in tonight, Bass fishing Ban is from may 15th to june 15th every year. this was about the 7 th or 8th time i have been out in the last few weeks hunting around various marks with my new lure rod and reel set up, just hoping to christen it but with no luck, water temp has been quite cold i noticed it was 9c when i was out in boat on sunday. so off i went not expeting too much again when after about 40 minutes my soft plastic lure was stopped in it tracks with a brilliant take i reacted with a strike to set the hook and the fish was on, battle lasted about five minutes with a few nice runs and a bit of trashing by the fish, rod reel and nanofil line handled it beautifully very pleasing way to break in a rod with a fine Bass of 5.5lbs landed, cant wait till the 15th of june :-)
also forgot to mention it was just over 60cm long thats 2 foot in old money ;-)

Fair play John. That's a fine bass and a nice way to christen the rod!

how ya paul I was waiting for this question, a beautiful young lady out for a long distance remote beach walk seen me with the fish and kindley offered me a service i couldnt refuse, not too often that happens :wink: :lol: :lol:
