North Wexford beach, 11th May '13

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:Me and Fishface

Duration:7pm-12pm

Tide:rising,,,,,high 9-30pm approx

Weather:nice ,,,,,,but it did lash rain for a while as well

Bait:lug,rag, crab

Rigs:pulley's and 2 hook flappers

Results:Bass for Fishface,,,,doggies, Dabs and Whiting

Report: Went to Dodds Rocks beach on Saturday (did I give it away  )evening to try for a pup Smoothound ,or even a bigger one, we wouldn't have minded  . I got there first and set up just before it lashed rain  . I had my first cast then 3 others arrived and set up to my left. Fishface arrived and went over to one of the lads for a natter. Next time I looked he was setting up down the other end of the beach  . I wondered what I had done on him to make him ignore me but then I realised that it was an age/failing eyesight thing. The poor bloke hadn't seen me and he was only 50yds away  . When I put on my Orange Imax jacket I could see his confused body language down the other end of the beach as he recognised who I was :? . He'll have to add a white stick to his wishlist for Christmas  Some others arrived and set up to my right so I decided to relocate down to Fishface's end of the beach. I had just set up when he landed a nice Bass 40cms,,,on a lug bait,,,and on his first cast as well   .I had a couple of doggies just after that , and we were hopeful of a busy evening after getting a few fish in daylight. It was busy alright with plenty of doggies and Dabs, with the odd whiting but no more Bass and no smoothies yet for us i'm afraid.

Murky looking water. Cracking snap by the way...! :-) I'd be well proud of that one.

Nice one lads. Glad to hear that beach is starting to produce. had a few bass last week about 2 miles south from here. The smoothies should be far behind.
