Toor Pier 11th May 2013
Pollacks! Last session before we head back tomorrow. Toor Pier (Location 8 on the map) 3pm till 5pm, tide and winds pushed me off the pier! 5 Pollack landed, 8 missed bites, sat and watched the float disappear then reacted like a muppet. That said I had 2 real big plays, but on both occasions as soon as the fish saw the pier wall, they both dived to the bottom, and broke me off! Sheeps Head in the distance with the Beara just behind. Great fun on light tackle, until next year, goodbye Ireland!

Hi, no advice especially with a kayak. from what I saw around the pier I wouldn't want to be in a kayak. best advice I can give is ask a local, sorry not to be more helpful, but I only did a few short sharp sessions, the map helped me. Good luck, be safe!

Re: Toor Pier 11th May 2013
Take it handy driving down to toor pier , it's a narrow road and you meet some residents coming head on, the pier itself is tiny and very dangerous, be very aware of the stage of the tide and swell on it. Fished there couple of times and its a must if you are down that way,,,,was talking to some divers on it one day and they could tell me that there was plenty of double figure pollock around there.....enjoy...beautiful spot.

Re: Toor Pier 11th May 2013
Top advice, as I said in my report, I stopped fishing due to the water covering the pier, and can concur on the Pollack, reckon I lost one or two on my light gear.Boycie Senior wrote:Take it handy driving down to toor pier , it's a narrow road and you meet some residents coming head on, the pier itself is tiny and very dangerous, be very aware of the stage of the tide and swell on it. Re: Toor Pier 11th May 2013
Steely,
Glad u took the opportunity, quite a magical place and one I visit every every year. Room for 3 and as already stated swell and tide can make it dangerous.
Congrats on the fish nd the courage making the drive,
John

Cheers John, if I go back, next time I will take stronger gear as I reckon the doubles were around last week! As for 3 fishing, maybe, but only room for one when you have the missus flitting around with her camera!
