waterproof camera for the tacklebag..

#1 Post by spindlefist »

I know it's technically photography, but posting here as it can be of use to all, I know for one I always have an old digi camera in my tacklebag, this one seems handy enough, only 50 blips.... and waterprooof..wonder if it is sandproof/mackeral guts proof...

Cheap camera! Worth an experiment (if I wasn't inthe process of a change)
One thing - I could see it eating batteries. Best get some rechargeable AAA batteries as well.

This really is "developing" into a photography thread, but anyway.... was thinking of a GoPro for the boat and other damp activities, but then i started looking around at ruggedised pocket cameras and now I'm not so sure. Is the GoPro worth the money d'yethink? Is it OK as a general camera or too specialised?

this is my second gopro- a friend gave me one of the very first ones, tis handy out in the yak,but wanted something with more bells and whistles... HD, 10 11mp shots per second, that kinda thing.. cannot fault them, loads of adapters for them and if you shop about you can get both the camera and the add ons for a far better price than most irish stores....
I got my gopro2 on ebay, new for 242, buy same set in ireland- 349..... irish are thieves. =D

word of warning, I'd not bother going near gopro 3 , overpriced, fairly flawed too apparently in terms of battery time and such...
Igot mine here

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/GoPro-HD-HERO-2- ... 1e13d#shId

and you can get all the adapters cheaper from dx.com good aul deal extreme!

Cheers. Found GoPro2 Naked for €199 on a German site, and accessories similarly cheap, but still not sure. Need something for general use as well, and lack of a screen a drawback there. Think I'll pass, and maybe take a look at your Aldi suggestion...

I use JVC's action cam: the Gc a1 Adixxion and love it!
I used have a Drift HD and that was good too.

7 day shop are doing what looks like a Gopro clone for £99. Not seen nor tried it.

For €250 the JVC is a lot of camera.

In answer to the previous query: These cameras have a wide view. They will take pictures but are not as good as a dedicated picture camera. You'd want to check first to see if you are happy.
