warning castlegregory area

#1 Post by paddy87 »

Just a warning to anyone planning to do a bit of fishing off the beach closest to the village of castlegregory to keep an eye on your cars.
myself and my girlfriend were there for about an hour over the weekend and her car was broken into and her bag, money etc. taken.
fright to god that you cant go out for a bit without something like that happening. everyone should stay wary if they're heading out that way.

Unfortunately happens quite a few times every year. Tend to stick to fishing beaches down there where you can safely drive on and keep an eye on the car.

I take everything out of my car when it's out of sight, then leave the doors unlocked. I'v had the change in my ashtray robbed a few times but it beats a broken window and your change gone!!

What beach do you mean..? The Back beach (The one the surfers call dumps), the end of the Brandon beaches, stradbally etc.
or Trench, the calmer beach on the right side..? I have a few surfer mates who have had cars done on Stradbally, Gowlane etc when surfing. There are usually a few cars on each of these beaches at any time.

yes this happened sunday evening. based on your description eoghan id say it was the trench beach that we were at.
A local lady has since gotten in touch as the bag was found in a river near stradbally beach. We called back yesterday to collect it. The girlfriend was delighted to get her few bits back even if they were a bit soggy.
The old couple we met were absolutly sound, nice to know there's still nice people out there.
thanks for all comments also
