Report: was on a sailing trip from liverpool to drogheda as part of the drogheda tall ships festival. we stopped in the isle of man for an overnight to seek refuge from the winds. as the weather was so warm i headed into douglas to find a tackle shop. bought a budget 7ft pier rod and reel and a couple of kures and away i headed over the rocks at the back of the harbour. i only had about an hour as we were sailing onto drigheda that day. i thought i was imagining things when on my second cast i got an powerful bang on the rod. i reeled in as quick as i could and sure enough there was a shiny pollock on the end of the line. headed back to ship soon after with a delighted grin on my face. got the chef on board to cook the fish and it was absolutly gorgeous..... always tastes better when you catch it yourself.

Re: Isle of Man 1st May
Nice going on the pollock. I'd say the crossing was some experience seen the ships heading back out on Monday morning wouldn't fancy bad weather in one of those.

Re: Isle of Man 1st May
I'm from the isle of man, and its good to see a picture off the back off Douglas head. The fishing over there is very good, especially in the summer months with tope off the beach upto 60lbs+. The pollock and wrasse fishing off the rocks is also very good. Only get two bad month's off fishing, and that's Jan and Feb. Only this weekend one of mates had a 9lb 2oz huss in a comp. Its def a place for a fishing trip away.
