People: Just me
Duration: 9pm-12.30am
Tide: High to Low
Weather: Very mild and flat calm sea
Bait: Rag and Frozen Black Lug
Rigs: 3 hook and 2 hook flappers. Size 2 hooks
Results: 2 dabs and 1 codling
Report:
I set up just after dark on the small pier. I was using two rods: 3 hooker on one and 2 hooker on the other. I added some cool luminous beads to the snoods to see if they might tempt some flatties. For the fist 2 hours I was being driven demented by pin whiting and crabs.
I was using size 2 hooks but I might switch to size 4 the next time because I got a few missed bites including one proper tip rattler. I broke out the frozen black lug towards the end. This was stuff I had stuffed into the back of the freezer ages ago and I didn't think it was going to do anything. But sure enough I had two smallish dabs in quick succession on it. I then got a small codling on rag.
