West Waterford 23/04/2013

#1 Post by declan65 »

People:me and one other

Duration:4and half hours

Tide:dropping

Weather:mild , overcast, southwesterlies.

Bait:Razor

Rigs:

Results:Bass 7.5lbs

Had a pass yesterday and a plan to match it :D ,so headed off for a beach session yesterday evening. Fishing has been very poor(everywhere) with the easterlies lately but was optimistic given the conditions. The usual pattern of small coalies coming on the feed at dusk was followed by a few very bassy bites duly missed  . Just after the low had a good rattle but nothing came of it , left it for another while then got the unmistakeable double tap of a good bass, connected with the fish which gave a really good battle on the way in , a few surging runs parallel to the beach and a lot of head shaking, knew it was a good fish (as did anyone else in earshot   ),landed the fish anyways, adrenaline pumping , weighed and measured 65cm and 7.5lbs, happy days 8) 8) . One other bass caught about half an hour later by Seanie, packed up as the rain started to come in.

I wouldnt rule it out completely, I spoke to a few people yesterday who I trust who had bass on lures and flies.
Slow retrieval, pausing etc....and they got amongst the fish.
