Shannon estuary

#1 Post by bigkev »

Hi to all the usual bods on the estuary
With the winter campaign about to kick off in earnest, how are the usual marks faring?
Dave_B and I will be at cappa this week in the evenings after the run of whiting
Anyone got any reports of whiting in the estuary?

I haven't heard from anyone about how the estuaries fishing. I've only fished rianna creekthe week before last in a comp since my report of carrigaholt and got a couple of flounder one of which was over the foot and a smelt. Neilus was out in cappagh a few weeks before this and got ray and whiting. I hope to get out on Saturday evening myself for a quick bash at kilteery.

Hi Neilus,
I fished Spanish Point on Sunday for last two hours of ebb and first two hours of flood. Fished the length of the beach on the left hand side of the river. Caught a very good flounder amongst the outcrop of boulders near the river. Got a very good bite there as well but my line slipped at the leader knot. Fished around the rocks that slide into the sea and I didn't get any bites but maybe the tide would need to be further in for that. The weed was very heavy there on the ebb but it seemed to clear later on.
It was my first time fishing on that side of the beach. I think it wouldn't be great for me at high tide as I'd hardly cast over the loose rocks.
Anyway, its the last session for a month or two as I have to get going on a new garden.
Good Fishing.
