Tripods
How much are they? and can anyone recommend a good one or are they more or less all the same quality?.Have been using the old style jigger and find it a bit heavy to be lugging around.
The telescopic is well durable and in some ways better than the normal Match Stand. The Match Stand is perfect for the beach, be it sand or shingle, but the telescopic is great for jetties and rock marks because you can have your rod at any height that suits.
It fits in any car without any hassle, its the cheapest in his range and he sells loads of them, so they must be happy with them.

i have the telescopic myself, great for rock marks but i wanted something a bit more steady for the beach so im getting a 7ft super match this weekend.also recently won a parker double cup telescopic tripod and these are also fairly good and light.
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!

What size does it fold down to?,would you fit it in a 1.95m rod bag?
Richie,
Closed it measures 1.20m, if you don't swivel the head it only measures 1.07m.
What sets Ian Golds apart from the others on the market is the quality of the aluminium and how well designed the plastic parts are. To light a weight is not good because it will bend easy or even snap.
I seen the prototype of one he will be bringing out some time next year, it is coated in black plastic, it looks pretty good 8)
Hope this helps you.
