Greystones Harbour, Co Wicklow, 30-3-13

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:me and Fishface

Duration:7-30pm-11pm

Tide:LW 7pm approx

Weather:not bad,,dry,,,cold,,,SE breeze

Bait:rag,frozen lug and mack

Rigs:2 and 3 hook flappers

Results:5 beard Rockling, Whiting, Pollock, Flounder

Report: Arranged with Neil to fish Greystones Harbour for a few hours before he went on one of his many holidays. The report from Roger and company had be chomping at the bit to get out, so I got myself organised from early   . Unfortunately this didn't stop me from forgetting a few items  such as scissors and more importantly rigs   . Arriving at the Harbour I got talking to a father and son who were just leaving,,,,,"Any luck?", says I,,,,,,,,"A nice flounder" , was the reply and the young lad say's "That funny man on the pier has already got one and he's only there a few minutes  ". I knew it was going to be one of those night's  I got set up and it wasn't long before I had a double of Rockling  . After having 2 blanks previously I was delighted to be back at the races but there was a lull after that for me  Not so for Neil ,,,,,he had one fish after another and soon had six or seven, among them rockling, whiting and a nice little flounder  . Neil left early, presumably to give me a chance to catch up  , and I moved into his spot. I had a nice pollock ,around 33cms, in close on rag/mack, then another smaller one. A couple more Rockling and a few small whiting was my total for the night,,,,,,not too bad I suppose,,and a lot better than my last few sessions :) .
