conamra good frid?

#1 Post by roger de dodger »

People:me,clive,john,fintan,paul,alby and dave

Duration:22 freekin hours

Tide:yea

Weather:easterly ,cold and sunny

Bait:mac squid rag lug

Rigs:pullys

Results:one mark blank second not a blank thank god!

Report:with fishing being patchy to say the least a fool hardy plan was hatched to go into the west ,5am start for our driver and 5.30 for me  i didnt realize it was bright at 5.30 these days
we arrived in at our first mark just before lw set up and bombarded the sea with massive baits on our pully pennels full of chat and hopes of thornies ,needless to say it was cold ,the wind was cold enough to peel the skin off your eyeballs  after a few fruitless hours and with the sea pushing us off the rocks it was time for plan b ,so exit stage left and off to our second mark about an hour away we sent our sides of mac hurtling out to sea with little prayers being muttered as the line sped off our spools ,after a few min fintan noticed a slack line and out popped ray no1 ,a femail of about 3 or 3.5 lb 8)

This was followed by more with everyone nabbing one except he who shall remain nameless as i wouldnt slag anyone for not catching the target spieces ,paul, dave fintan and alby packed up and headed off and we stayed on into darkness hoping a huss might show ,alas after another hour just a few dogs came on so off we went home 8)

The drive home was shall we say eventfull  i will never trust a sat nav again ,well not clives anyway :lol:we drove over a mountain range with grass down the middle of the road and sheep all over the gaff, prob about 40km of roads that prob arnt on a map

i was dropped home at 1.30 knackered smelly and windburnt !
but happy as a ray a day keeps the doctor away

You guys are definitively tough and hardened fishermen by all means! Well done to Fintan for his first ray of the season, no one can honestly say this fish wasn't well earned! 8)
And in relation to the 'little Sat Nav glitch' only very few road maps (no matter how expensive the gadget was) cover all those hidden and sacred roads to good marks in the West of Ireland. Might be one of the reason for the still good fishing there, well sometimes... :)
