Being English I can see where your coming from with the question.

The Magna Carta does not apply to Southern Ireland.

I am interested to know why you ask though, wanna tell ?

find nets staked out on the beaches along with longlines all set for bass
was wondering if they were legal/illegal
cut up some l.lines dureing the autume had arun in with the guy who had set them
these lines are set in the same area every year and are only baited for the night tides
some up to .5 mile long with 3/400 hooks

I hope you told him what to do with his long lines.

I met a guy over in Clew Bay in August, he is from Jersey but lives in Clew Bay, he came over to talk to me and my son as we fished from a jetty. He started bragging about the nets he puts out trying to impress us, he told me that he got 16 Bull Huss one morning a few days before, man! was he shocked by what I had to say to him.

He thought because he knew how to cook them and as he said "they make good eating" that his method was OK, some people just don't understand nature. 16 Huss dead in one net over night, for the dinner table of one man, what a liberty!

I mentioned him to Mary Gavin Hughes, she said she knew him and most of the locals had no time for him, guess he thought my English accent made me his friend, what a mistake he made

All of ireland shares the same background of law north and south up until 1922. THe basis of Irish law is directly transfered English common law. However I think the magna carter directly applied to England.
