i dont know about youghal but out off kilmore the cod can hang around till may in big numbers no more than a mile off shore and closer still to rough ground ,funny they dont frequent the beaches yet are quite close by
i suppose its all down to available food

Would check the weather first with all the rain we had there could be a lot of freshwater in the estuary if your fishing the carpets.joebhoy wrote:Hey John. Fishing Youghal myself this weekend so hopefully have better luck. Were you using any crab...?

Hey sparky fishing a mark away from the estuary that has been kind to us this winter. Not really mad about the carpets as it gets busy enough. Your right though with the heavy rain it tends to push the fish out the estuary.
