Trabucco Poetica 250gm
I got one of these last year on good advice...... They are a three piece continental style rod from Italy. They are designed by Michele Nardi and are set to become a truly classic rod. My first impressions of the 250gm rated poetica was it would never cast a 250gm weight, it feels like a carp rod in the hand. It surprisingly comes to life when a reel weight and line are attached; my first cast with it was very surprising considering I went for safety with a 4oz weight. I hit it with a basic short swing fishing cast and the rod reacted very smoothly. The lead flew out with remarkable ease stripping off more line than I wanted. I changed weights and put on a 6oz plain lead and teed up for a full pendulum cast the swing was smooth and any bobbles on the weight with my rusty style were ironed out by the tip. I came around slowly and noticed that the rod was still in contact with the weight which was encouraging I hit it and the rod coped very well with the 6oz lead. There is a little delay needed before you hit the lead but once the power in the butt comes into play you can hit it hard on the final punch. This rod is well capable of casting in excess of 200yds and I have cast it past this mark in less than ideal conditions. Distance is not the only bow in this weapons armoury it’s just at home casting maddies for the beleaguered flounder given its through action. I've used weights from 3oz to 8oz and it has been used in very rough conditions and coped admirably. I still shake my head in disbelief every time I set this rod up given it fragile appearance.

Great rod, easily the best of the poetica range. There is a big difference between these and the 200gm models which lack a bit of backbone even casting at 150-175gm.The reelseats on the poetica rods are absolute dirt.

Could you elaborate on the reel seat been dirt?...... that's a sweeping statement! I have used mine twice a week for the last 6 months and not had any problems. Perhaps you forgot to wash the sand out before using?Private Ryan wrote:Great rod, easily the best of the poetica range. There is a big difference between these and the 200gm models which lack a bit of backbone even casting at 150-175gm.The reelseats on the poetica rods are absolute dirt.

Re: Trabucco Poetica 250gm
I have used 4 poetica rods from new.Useing each one for the first time the threading felt grainy and tight. The rod i am using now has been heavily used since mid 2012 but has also been looked after by cleaning and the odd spray of wd40 on the threads.loosening and tightening up to reels is a pain as you're waiting for the reelseat to break, some reels don't sit in too well either.Other anglers have commented on the same problem. It maybe a goldlabel reelseat but is still a cheap component.I have abused numerous rods with fuji reelseats over the years and had very little problems with them.

If you are encountering problems with the reel seat you should bring it back to the retailer and let him have a chance to right the problem!! I'm sure he'd be only too happy to help with this matter......Private Ryan wrote:I have used 4 poetica rods from new.Useing each one for the first time the threading felt grainy and tight.

Re: Trabucco Poetica 250gm
i don't see it as a retailers problem and would rather replace the seat with one of my own choice. When i bought century rods the first thing to be done was to bin the reelseat that came on them, they were just awful and i did not see that as a problem for the retailer at the time either.paul mason wrote:If you are encountering problems with the reel seat you should bring it back to the retailer and let him have a chance to right the problem!! Re: Trabucco Poetica 250gm
i got one of these rods in october last and like most at first thought i would not handle a pendulum with a 5/6oz but once you have a cast you soon realise its a wolf in sheeps clothing but will cast maddies quiet easily also, used it almost non stop for two weeks in holland with everything from 2oz leads scratching up to pendulum casting 7oz with 3 baits and even went as far as using an 8oz in the jimmy smith on it!
cant rate it highly enough, also the cattura is a great scratching rod at a reasonable price.all in all the 250 poetica is a great all-rounder with the extra power if ever needed.
