Had a weeks break in Tenerife, so bought a handy little shakespear telescopic in Henry's, fits nicely in a Ryanair size suitcase,,,well worth the 28 euro,
Fished a few rocky outcrops using 6 lb line, a waggler float set up and size 10 hooks and prawn as bait.
Bites aplenty everywhere i fished,,hard to hook up though, smaller hook size might have helped.
Tried ground fishing using kamazan 2's and 50lb braid, and a whole shrimp as bait,,lost a nice bream coming up the rocks and also lost an Octopuss about 2 or 3 lb,,,no bother to the rod,
Fished a little harbour in Playa San Juan,,,the only harbour in Tenerife where you are ALLOWED to fish,,caught a couple of puffers and drove myself mad looking at the Baracudas swirling in the water infront of me. of course i brought no wire traces with me and tried using 20 lb flourocarbon and large shrimps,,,,got one bite,,,and thats what it was,,,biten off half way up the snood...spoke to a german guy on the pier he told me the locals fish for ray and shark at night from the harbour,,all monster fish, 30-150 lb,,so my next trip to Tenerife I'll, be staying in Playa san Juan, beautiful little fishing village.
The local cop walked down the pier a few times and stood behind me,,,they take your rod and fine ya 300 euro on the spot over there if ya have no licence. As I left the pier he gave me a jovial nod which sUGGESTED to me,,tourist anglers are welcome there. Ohh bring plenty of elastic thread, I ran out after three days and barely connected with a bite after that.
Weather was massive, calm seas for most of the week, got a few mini species, but will be returning to go after the bigger lads next visit.
FISH CAUGHT, lizard fish, Parrot Wrasse, Puffer fish (male and female) and damselfish i think is the black on with the blue spot.

No hassle at all,,,the rod i bought fits into a ryanair size carry on case,,
had a box full of hooks and weights too.
They did give the bag a 2nd look on the monitor,,,,,but no hassle either end.

smaller hook and more elastic thread,,,the species count would have been higher.
Or heavier gear off the beaches,,,angel sharks,,,tope,,,stingers,,barracudas, eagle rays, butterfly rays are all on the menu.
Will hopefully be back there in May

The fishing in Fuertaventura is supposedly better than Tenerife, but the winds are stronger for the most part. Some good vids on YouTube of lads fishing for stingers and angel-sharks.
