estuary, south wexford, 16-01-13

People:me fein

Duration: 21.00-23.00

Tide: high and drop

Weather: rain with strong southerlies

Bait: wraps, mac, crab

Rigs: 3 hook flappers, pulley

Results: 2 dabs, rockling

Report: left the calm of the harbour to reach the southern shores at 7 - accuweather had it at 15km SSE breezes - i knew just parking the car i wasnt fishing. the rain was heavy but the car was shaking like hell just parked up. struggled to open the door and that was enough, F this for a game of soldiers. back in the car and tested my knowledge of the backroads in south wexford to get to the estuary. nice high water presented itself and sheltered myself behind the car. plenty of spent bait strewn aobut the place so knew plenty of fishing had been goign on.

first cast a double 5 beardy, 25cm and dab 20cm - could have easily packed up there and then but decided to stay a while. current wasnt too bad so threw on a crab on a pulley. stuck with the 3 hook small baits on other rod

crabs were stripping very quickly on the baits further out. in close not much happended. after an hour another dab 17cm - that was me done

home a g+t, nearly puking meself watching the film the missus was watching - sex and the city

Well done Brian, btw is there no Bray Harbour down that neck of the woods where you could fish, catch crabs and rockling and stay comfy
