have a look at this one i'm sure some of the materials could be replaced by others if you don't have them.

They are all Salmon flies.... Try a search for crazy charlies in ebay and you should get something closer to what your looking for. I've had flounder and Turbot on the crazy charlies off the beack in Kerry.

Re: Shrimp pattern
Kev, I wasn't aware that Eoghan was not looking for salmon flies, nowhere mentioned in his post, only for ready tied? And in relation to Crazy Charlies as a suggested pattern for mainly exotic fish like Bonefish, which is a rather rare species here in Ireland
, can you provide some evidence for that? Not that I doubt your word for it, please don't take me up wrong now, but I would never ever have thought on using a pattern like this here? Just interested to learn a bit more the secrets of SWFF. Hope this came across the way intended

Re: Shrimp pattern
No problem Martin. Eoghan is a Bass angler so I was thinking he was looking for SWFF patterns. We both could be wrong
Crazy charlies are indeed a bonefish fly. If you get the larger sizes (size 2 ish) in more neutral tones, like grey, tan they are a good fly for flounder in the surf. I fish them on a clear internediatle line and a "jerky" type retrieve. I've had loads of small flounder and turbot in the suds using this method.

Re: Shrimp pattern
Sorry for confusion gents - Im looking for something like this :
http://flytyingcontest.com/2010/03/14/stoner-shrimp/
The plan is to target rough ground low water marks with the fly rod and get this in and amongst the boulders.
The mark I have in mind is stuffed with shrimp like the one above.

If Only,

I have to hit the tying bench again over the winter, so now I have a few more patterns to put together.... Deffo food for thought, What ever about the Grandslam, I would love the GHB on a fly.... Now that would be some fun!
Looks like I might have a pencil in a trip to west cork
