The reason for that is that Lithium batteries shipping now requires strict compliance with new regulations and therefore supplies are running out in may shops. Royal Mail doesn't take laptop batteries for overseas shipping at the moment at all I found out over the weekend when I had an order placed with one of my suppliers.

'With effect from January 2013 all customers who ship lithium batteries must comply with the relevant requirements of changes made to the ATA/ICAO dangerous goods regulations. These regulatory changes will affect both lithium metal (also known as primary non-rechargeable) and lithium ion (rechargeable) batteries.'

I got a laptop pack and got the batteries out there was 9 in the pack. Made in Japan it said which is good!!!... better than those fire batteries that come from China. Charged them up and tested them at the weekend and they were great....going to do a durability time test on them to see how long they last. I'd say they have protection for overcharging over running down!!! because they were installed in a laptop I'd say they are top quality.
