power pro or suffix braid

#1 Post by yellow peril »

i have been using power pro 30lb on my spinning reel last year and am thinking of changing and going lighter too
the power pro seems a lot thicker than it should be they sayon the box it is the same as 8lb mono but to my eye its thicker than that
i am thinking about 20lbs so what is your favourite braid and why
does anyone know what dia 20lb braid is in power pro (i have been reading up on the net and some people say the charts are all wrong on the dia on the power pro)
i will be using this for salmon fishing and lure fishing from the rocks also
cheers

Hi yp,
Have been using 20lb power pro for my lure fishing for a number of years. I think it's the same dia as 6lb mono. A find it great never had a crack off & every few trips I cut a couple of meters off just to be sure. I purchase my power pro from fisherman's source a eBay shop great value can get 300 meters for €20 or 150 meters for €12. He also has the new 8 strand braid also good value. Hope this helps you.

I've never used the Suffix braid. I use 20lb PowerPro over rocky marks and 10lb PowerPro on clean sandy marks and when spinning in freshwater.

I've also been using Stren SonicBraid in 10lb bs, I've found that's pretty good stuff.
