Report:hi all,got bites for the 2hours of the flooding tide, then nothing bites st oped codling went from 1lb--3.5lb witch is new pb.this fish had a blister on its side,anybody know should these fish be killed or returned i put it back right or wrong .coalfish 1.25lb rockling5oz.best nights fishing in a long while.

In answer to your question well I would say in light of good conservation practices you were right to put the fish back. This is an ignorant statement I know but I just love to hear of fish being returned to the sea alive.

whereabouts in the harbour did you get the codling and how far out were you casting?

agree with putting the fish back..had the same experience with a carp i caught in france as well a few years back...if the fish was ill / injured, i'm sure a seal / big pollack etc...would make a decent meal of it and surely thats better than the fish being dumped on land somewhere.
