New Spinning Reel

Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend a good spinning reel that preferably comes with a few extra spools that doesn't break the bank. I have decided on getting a Teklon Concept 802 so I would like a good reel to match it.

I've just recently got a new Shimano Exage 4000FC, came with a spare spool. It's silky smooth, and handled a very annoyed 2lb sea trout in fast flowing water with no bother at all.

I like it.

I have the same rod and matched it with the Penn Atlantis 4000
Its a very good real, and compare to the Exage and Stradic which I have I much prefer it. Got it for Bass and using it for Salmon

Mitchell mag pro 4000 is a lovely reel. At this price it's a steal. I've had one for two years and it's still sweet despite plenty of abuse and saltwater exposure. Line lay with braid is good and it has a decent drag. All in all a nice reel for a great price.

Its a lovely rod to fish with, definitely a "flicker" for soft plastics. My girlfriend in fact uses it more than me because its so light.
It doesnt cast that far, but its an 8ft so thats expected. I filled the spool with 15lb Nanofil and I think the setup compliments each other. The other spool has 12lb mono for river work and combined the rod and reel has landed a few salmon up to 5lb with no problem. I think the rod would struggle with 8lb + salmon. However I caught salmon using the 9ft version of the rod and it had buckets of power, too much in fact for the fishing I do and the salmon I expect to catch.

So the 802 is my go to spinning rod at the moment

The mitchell doesn't come with a shallow braid spool (in fairness - not many do) so you'll need to back up the braid with mono. Comes with a spare spool (not a plastic one thankfully) so it's easy to work out how much mono to put on.

There's a tonne of reels out these days that I'd love to buy - especially some of the newer Daiwa ones. However until I have 200+ bills to spend I'll happily stick with the mag pro!
