Greystones 7th Sept

#1 Post by Richie07 »

People: Me

Duration:17.00 - 20.30

Tide: Dropping

Weather: Warm, no wind, cloudy.

Bait: Lure

Rigs:

Results:5 Pollock and 3 Bass

Report:
Conditions were perfect and I jumped in the car and headed off with good expectations, I've had a few Bass this year around Dublin and North Wicklow on the lure, I always have one really good session at this spot every year and tonight this was it. I was using a Tackle House shallow feed lure, great to see it coming back with no weed attached as has been the case alot this Summer. I got into the Pollock first, no great size although I got one about 1.5 lb that put up a great fight and I thought it was a schoolie. Very surprised to see there were no Macs about, was hoping for a few for the dinner, had some on the shallow feed before which is good craic. I moved to another spot and got a few follows but no takes, then I finally got a Bass around 5lb, great to see it take the lure, nice fight and I had it landed, I unhooked it and sent it back. Moved another spot, 10 feet away and got another one slightly smaller, which was deep hooked so I kept this one for the table. Next I got to the spot which has always produced for me when the conditions are this good. First cast I brought the lure past a boulder and I could see a Bass lunge at the lure but it didn't connect, quick check of the drag and the knot and away I went again, brought it past the same boulder and this time there was a massive splash and the fish was on, it took line off and just kept going, this was a big one, what a fight!. I managed to land it, unhook it and put it in a pool to recover before I sent it back. I measured it against my rod and it was 76cm, theres nobody more sorry than myself that I forgot my bleedin camera!! anyway a great night and another fishing memory that will stay with me forever. Tight lines.

I think about 9 to 11lb, it was very fat and in great condition. I used to have a gallery on here with some I caught before around Greystones but seems to have vanished.
