Bass hunt, Waterford, rocky beach, 5th Aug '12

#1 Post by John D »

People:Mise agus Tony

Duration:20:00 to 23:59

Tide:Hight at approximately 20:02

Weather:Light NE, 12.5 degrees, good water clarity with suspended weed in places

Bait:N/A

Rigs:Black 5" weedless yamasenko with 1.8g jighead

Results:Blank (but lost another one!)

Report:Another session and another fish lost. Again I was twitching my lure very slowly and even leaving it static at times for up to 17 seconds. Anyway at about 09:25 just as dusk was setting in I felt a few twitches on my rod. I was unsure whether or not there was anything on the line but just as my flurocarbon leader came into view I then suddenly caught a glimpse of a small bass' head and its deep black eyes stared at me momentarily. But with one quick shake of its head it was gone and my line was light and slack. About 5 minutes later a fish jumped in the same area. That's all the action I saw for the whole night. So that's 2 lost fish in the space of a week. Considering I hadn't hooked a bass (well apart from a monster early season this year) for over 2 years a while back I'm actually quite pleased with those 2 lost fish! Sad - I know! :?
