People: myself and fmd + others
Duration: 3 hours sat evening, 4 sunday morning
Tide: high round 7.30pm
Weather: overcast, warm
Bait: lures, feathers, lug mac crab sandeel
Rigs: flappers
Results: pile of mackeral, blank
Report: headed down to rocks on southern shore and just as we got there the sea boiled - sorted!
had some novices with me so knew we were all going to catch - first cast mac on and that was pretty much it for next few hours
tried to tease out some wrasse and some soft plastics for pollack but none showed
mac for dinner and breakfast
on the morning headed north to fish dugort - was told to fish middle beach but got bearings wrong and went for western beach - there was a pub infront of that one also!
as i was setting up old fella came up and told me i would catch nothing on the bottom - he was right
said he had fished since the 70s and it was waste of time
after an hour the skinners apppeared on my bait and experience says when these guys show up you may as well pack up
stayed on for an hour and then quit - as i was driving east saw the middle beach and the pub infront of that one! and realised my error - looks far more fishy - lots of gully etc. so will know to try that next time
like to tell myself that it was the red tide effect that had put paid to bottom fishing round there also....

Best place to fish in Dugort is a place called
"the boat rock" its half way between the 2
beaches/pubs and at the bottom of the farmers field,
lovely mark, comfortable and flat-i was here in 2007
and its the only time ive ever seen shoals of mackerel
2ft away from the rock-it was like something off the blue
planet......i caught dogs, thornbacks etc etc .
If i remember right the mark is opposite the cottages i
stayed in called Rosewood Holiday homes or something
like that, wish i was there now!!!!
