Dangers whilst rock fishing( loss of fisherman at culloo )

#1 Post by screeming reels »

Hi Lads
Just a timely reminder to all those who partake in a little rock fishing , was out on a search late last night for a fisherman who slipped off the rocks at a well know spot in kerry ( Culloo rocks ), weather conditions were fine last night , but unfortunetely he appears taken by the sea.
Many members of the rescue services were on scene very quickly , but to no avail.
I appreciate it may look stupid or uncool to wear a lifejacket when fishing from cliffs, but if this person had been wearing one, he would have been rescued.
Its not the last time this will happen, the cliffs are dangerous on in the best of weathers, but the swell can turn up anytime.
Fish safely
regards
