have a look at the shakespeare site Damien. as far as i know most of the K2 range are rung for fixed spool. had a slow semi-pendulem with the 16 1/2' blue metal there yesterday and sent a 4oz. watch lead out about 140yards. still finding it hard to cast in close though as it sends the lead out further than my usual lob with a standard 13footer. takes a bit of gettin used to?!

on the rod length im not sure but i think that may be at world champ level?i know its the way it is at world boat champs from what im told.
with the long rod for fishing at your feet a sideways flick is all that is required if you overhead it is can be prone to going to far.

Mark,

The rule you mention for world championships is worked out like this, the longest RIG your allowed to use is 5m and the rod cant be longer than the max rig length. Thats where the 5m rods came from.

I know one company who were working on a 6m rod until I pointed the rule out to them    hehehe

Phil,

Your right about an overhead thump, the first long rod I ever cast was a Tyrex 15ft multipier rod, with a 525mag and an overhead thump on a nice calm flat day, I and the two guys with me could not beleive how far the 5oz lead went.

Tom.

For those of you looking into buying a K2 rod, they seem to be quite cheap at :
