plugs and lures for wexford

#1 Post by fishfeatures »

hi,

I have returned fishing after a good few years of being away and am having an awful run of not catching anything. I don't actually know of anyone in work, or near me who fishes, none of my circle do it either. Can someone point out a few marks for plugs and spinning in wexford , any where from curracloe to the Hook would be great. All info will be kept quiet. I have thrown everything out there from jellies, mepps, hansen stripers, taz devil, german spratts , poppers, shallow divers, deep divers but nothing. Tried just about everyway imaginable of fishing the tides (all except night).

I'm starting to think the fish don't like me too well or either my marks are outta date.

thanks guys.

I honestly don't know much about plugging around Wexford as I usually fish Cork to Kerry but you can't go too far wrong if you apply the normal principles that you learnt back when you first fished. Look for a fishy area - surf beach, rocky area, esturies etc and start off with dawn and dusk raids in clearish water with plenty of movement. Use whatever plug spinner you have confidance in. Silvery/white ones in clean areas and ones with a tinge to the belly in rocky areas. Dont be afraid to vary the retrieve or even pause it now and again ( sometimes this works), learn to have confidance in what you are using by see how it swims. Keep this up and you will connect. It is all about leg work and putting in the hours. Keeping a diary is a great idea to see how an area fishes differently in different conditions. I do hope you get into one or two fish and this will help bring pack the passion for the sport. Tightlines.

Thanks for that reply Wildrover and the bit of encouragement.
Afraid to say that still haven't caught anything on lures around Wexford, am still chucking them out there.... but have resorted to bait once or twice when down and got me a couple of flounder and a smoothie.

Still would much rather the rock hopping instead of the waiting game ....

Diary was a good idea thanks for that would never have thought to start one , hopefully it'll pay off.
