Hound Dogs and Shifting Baselines
I should be jumping around but I'm not. Went down to a favourite mark yesterday evening and had the rod top nodding constantly with a surprise heave to included as a large hound took off. Dogfish central plus a few dab, however not five years ago mixed bags were the order of the day from this location to include decent flounder, codling, gurnard, and bass. Today dogs and smuts rule, should I be thankful or upset? No, just resigned as I've seen it all before. http://www.anirishanglersworld.com/inde ... baselines/.

Re: Hound Dogs and Shifting Baselines
Nice fish Ashley
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I used to think about all the fishing time I missed out on but now i'm glad I only took up fishing relatively recently,,,as in the past 6/7 years,,,,,,,,,,as I can go home smiling after catching a fish like that
. I can sympathize with your point though,,,,,,,,,,,,hopefully it's a cycle and the good days will come back
. Besides there wouldnt have been too many Bass about in those flat calm conditions,,,,,,,,,,,,,,or would there
p.s. Your website is excellent,,,,,full of information, thanks a lot,,,,,,,i'm going to the Beara next month and have been reading your reports in anticipation of a good trip,,,,heres hoping,,,
