Netting on Curracloe Beach

#1 Post by Hagar the Horrible »

Hi

Apologies if this topic has come up before but I noticed last weekend that about a mile and a half of Curracloe beach has been netted off. The net is only about 200 yds off the beach and I saw the boat setting it during the day. Can anyone advise if this is legal? It seems to me to be incredibly close to the shore and could even pose a threat to swimmers. I am more than happy to contact the relevent authorities if it’s illegal but I seem to remember reading a similar post and the legailty or otherwise depends on the target species. Can anyone advise?

Thanks
Hagar

Ring the Fisheries Hotline (anonymous) at 1890 347424 and explain with as much detail as possible what you saw.
If you can describe the boat laying the line all the better.
If your aware that the net is still there, let them know.

Whether it is legit or not, these guys will be happy to take the call.
